Featuring a stunningly aged silver dial, a beautiful domed crystal, and a high-grade movement adjusted to five positions, this 1963 example is a highly attractive and collectible piece that brings undeniable vintage charm to any wrist.

Brand: Omega

Reference Number: 166.020
Serial Number: 20703241
Movement: Automatic Caliber 562, 24 jewels, adjusted to five positions and temperature
Dial: Silver sunburst with applied gold-tone indices and date window
Case Size: 35 mm
Case Material: Gold-capped over stainless steel
Production Year: 1963
Condition: Good vintage condition. The watch presents a beautiful and honest vintage character with a nicely preserved dial and case showing highly attractive aging. The timegrapher result of -13 to -15 seconds per day indicates a healthy movement offering reliable vintage performance.

Dial and Hands
The watch features a beautiful silver sunburst dial that has aged gracefully over the decades, developing a warm and even vintage patina that provides immense character. It is adorned with applied faceted gold-tone baton indices that catch the light brilliantly, along with an applied Omega logo and elegant script indicating the Seamaster De Ville lineage. A date aperture is positioned at three o'clock, neatly framed in gold. The classic dauphine hands retain their original luminous material, which has oxidized to a handsome, dark golden tone, further enhancing the authentic mid-century appeal of this remarkable timepiece.

Case and Crystal
The sophisticated 35 mm case boasts a rich gold-capped finish over a stainless steel core, offering a luxurious and substantial presence. The elegant straight lugs and polished bezel remain well-defined, showing normal and honest wear consistent with its age, maintaining a highly attractive overall shape. The original Omega-signed crown is present and crisp. Enhancing the vintage aesthetic is a striking domed acrylic crystal, which perfectly contours the case and creates wonderful, warm distortions around the dial edge. The stainless steel caseback is a particular highlight, proudly displaying a deeply embossed and well-preserved Seamaster hippocampus logo alongside the classic waterproof engraving.

Movement
Powering this elegant timepiece is the highly regarded Omega Caliber 562 automatic movement. This exceptional copper-toned caliber features 24 jewels and is notably adjusted to five positions and temperature, reflecting an impressive commitment to precision chronometry typical of Omega's finest production during this era. The movement is visually clean, showcasing beautiful original finishing and crisp engravings throughout. The timegrapher result of -13 to -15 seconds per day indicates a healthy movement offering reliable vintage performance.

Strap
The watch is paired with a supple brown leather strap featuring vintage-style cream contrast stitching. This choice of strap beautifully complements the warm gold tones of the case and the aged patina of the dial, ensuring the watch is perfectly suited for immediate daily wear or elegant evening occasions.

Condition
Good vintage condition. The watch shows normal, honest vintage wear throughout, with a case that remains structurally sound and highly attractive. Visible handling marks and light scratches are present but do not detract from the stunning overall presentation. The dial and hands display a moderate, highly appealing patina that is perfectly consistent with a beloved timepiece from 1963. The timegrapher result of -13 to -15 seconds per day indicates a healthy movement offering reliable vintage performance.

Dimensions
The watch features a classic vintage case size measuring exactly 35 mm in diameter, excluding the signed crown.

Remarks
The Seamaster De Ville represents a masterful intersection of versatile durability and refined styling. The combination of the heavily domed vintage crystal, the chronometer-grade adjustments on the Caliber 562 movement, and the exceptionally crisp seahorse caseback makes this specific configuration incredibly desirable. It is a fantastic opportunity for collectors seeking a wearable, historically significant Omega with an undeniable presence.

History
Introduced in the early 1960s, the De Ville collection originally began as a refined subset of the robust Seamaster line before eventually becoming its own independent family. Omega designed these specific models to offer the renowned durability and waterproof engineering of the Seamaster family, but packaged within a much more elegant, slim, and dressy profile suitable for formal occasions. Produced in 1963, this timepiece perfectly captures the mid-century optimism and aesthetic perfection that defined Omega's legendary historical catalog.
