Conjunto de Sake de Estanho Japonês – Tokkuri e Copos feitos à mão, Comemorativo de 1964 - Japão - Século XXI
This refined Japanese pewter (tin) sake set is a beautifully preserved example of Showa-era craftsmanship, created in 1964 (Showa 39), as confirmed by the commemorative inscription visible inside the original presentation box.
The set consists of two tokkuri (sake flasks) and five ochoko (sake cups), all meticulously hand-crafted from pure tin (hon-suzu). Each vessel features individually engraved motifs, ensuring that no two pieces are exactly the same—clear evidence of traditional handwork rather than mass production.
The elegant surface texture and engraved floral and botanical designs reflect classic mid-20th-century Japanese metal artistry. Pewter has long been valued in Japan for sake vessels due to its ability to soften flavors and enhance aroma, making this set not only decorative but also functional.
Inside the lid lining of the original box, a commemorative inscription reads “Ichihara City 1st Anniversary”, firmly dating the set to 1964. The condition is exceptional: there are no dents, no structural damage, and no major wear, with all pieces remaining clean and well-balanced.
This is an outstanding collector’s piece, equally suitable for serious Japanese antiques collectors, sake connoisseurs, or as a refined display object representing authentic Showa-era design.
