Funakakushi is situated nearby to the locality Shiomichō, as well as near the quarter Sumiyoshicho. Shōdoshima or Shōdo Island (小豆島, Shōdoshima) is an island located in the Inland Sea of Japan. The name means "Island of Small Beans". There are two towns on the island: Tonoshō and Shōdoshima, composing the district of Shōzu. The island is famous as the setting for the novel Twenty-Four Eyes and its subsequent film adaptations and the manga Teasing Master Takagi-san and its adaptations. The island was the first area of Japan to successfully grow olives, and it is sometimes known as "Olive Island". Shōdoshima is home to Dofuchi Strait, the world's narrowest strait, 9.93 meters at its narrowest. (source: Wikipedia) Miyata's prints are very recognizable, as he created a unique style in which he eliminated details and used colors and shapes in their most simple forms to create a vibrant but still very recognizable image of reality. Miyata has had 250 solo exhibitions of his work as well as many publications. This specific print has never been framed, and is in excellent condition. It has never been framed and always stored in a dark place. Due to the large size of the print, it will be shipped in a tube. This allows for drastically reduced postage costs. Due to the introduction of the import tariff system in 2025, Maltapost has suspended all postal services to the USA until further notice. If you live in the USA, you will need to give an alternative address outside of the USA for shipments. Otherwise, please refrain from bidding.
