Kura e Abumi - Laca, Aço, Madeira - Japão - Período Edo (1600 1868)
This nice matching Kura (saddle) and Abumi (stirrups) were made during the Edo Period.
Samurai warriors increasingly used horses and rode the gunjingura, or war saddle. The main weapon of early samurai warfare was the yumi (bow), and the kura provided a rugged, stable, comfortable platform for shooting arrows.
The Kura has four main components: the maewa (the arched front plate), the hizuwa (the arched rear plate), and the Igi (two contoured sidebands). They are holding the arched front plate and arched rear plate together. Both the arched plates are holding an dragon image.
Condition:
There some scratches, peelings of lacquer, and discoloration, the arched rear plate has some repair patches
Overall, this saddle and stirrups are in good condition and display nicely.
Important notice: The armor will be securely packaged and shipped with insurance. For customers outside the EU: import duties or VAT are not included and are the responsibility of the buyer.
