Vale do Indus Terracota Figurina feminina sentada com teste TL - 10.2 cm

Indus Valley. Mehrgarh Culture. Seated female figurine (ca. 2500 BC). Terracota. Height 10.2 cm. Missing parts of the legs. Attached QED Laboratoire thermoluminescence certificate. The Indus Valley civilisation was a Bronze Age civilisation in the northwestern regions of South Asia, lasting from 3300 BC to 1300 BC, and in its mature form from 2600 BCE to 1900 BC. Together with ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia, it was one of three early civilizations of the Near East and South Asia, and of the three, the most widespread, its sites spanning an area stretching from today's northeast Afghanistan, through much of what is now Pakistan, and into western and northwestern Indian Republic. It flourished in the basins of the Indus River, which flows through modern-day republics of India and Pakistan along a system of perennial, mostly monsoon-fed, rivers. A common class of terracotta statuettes have been identified as figurines of a "mother goddess". However, due to some difficulties in conclusively identifying these figurines with a mother goddess, some scholars prefer using the term "female figurines with likely cultic significance". Provenance: Former private collection (Spain, 1990s-2000s), previously in a UK gallery (1990s). Attached report of analysis by thermoluminescence carried out by the QED laboratory. The Supplier warrants that he obtained this lot legally. Provenance statement seen by Catawiki. Important information. The seller guarantees that he is entitled to ship this lot. The seller will take care that any necessary permits will be arranged. The seller will inform the buyer about this if this takes more than a few days. Important: For destinations out of Spanish territory: all our objects will be shipped after obtaining CERTIFICATE OF EXPORTATION by Ministry of Culture of Spain. We inform our clients that it may take between 4-8 weeks.
