A Beautiful and Rare Indus Valley Terracotta Bust of Mother Goddess, 2nd Century BC - 1st Century AD
H6.2 x W6.3 x D2.4 cm ( H9.5 cm with Base )
This evocative terracotta bust represents a Mother Goddess from the Indus Valley, modeled with stylized facial features, almond-shaped eyes, and an elaborate coiffure. The geometric treatment of the hair and jewelry reflects the symbolic and ritual character of Indus religious art.
The surface retains a rich, earthy patina with traces of original pigment, bearing witness to its great antiquity. Fragmentary yet powerful, the sculpture conveys fertility, protection, and divine presence—central themes in early South Asian belief systems.
Mounted on a custom display stand.
