This is an excellent bed linen as it is 2m30 wide and will deck a bed up to 1m80 with 0.m50 spare for the sides. You will note there is a centre seam and this indicates that the linen was woven in the early 20th Century as wider widths were as yet not available By the early XXth Century the weaving looms however had been widened to approx. 1m15 instead of the 1m until the end of the 19th Century, thus enabling to weave wider linen. The linen would have had two selvedges by the time they came off the loom ,and both outworkers and young school leaving girls would join meticulously the width together in the factory. It was a laborious job! The initials E.C. are twice embroidered in heavy relief with on both initials a small floral decoration.
