◆但馬国 Tajima Province
Tajima Province (たじまのくに) was an ancient administrative division (reizei no kuni) of Japan corresponding to the northern part of present-day Hyogo Prefecture. Belonging to the San'in region, it was also known by the abbreviated name “Tanshu” (たんしゅう) and is an area rich in nature and history. Its provincial capital is believed to have been located in Hidaka-cho, Toyooka City. During the Edo period, domains such as Izushi, Toyooka, and Muraoka were established there. After the Meiji period, it was incorporated into Hyogo Prefecture.
◆銀三匁 Gin-san monme
“Gin-san monme” refers to the weight equivalent to three silver coins from the Edo period (approximately 11.25g). It was a unit used to indicate the value of silver coins, where one monme was a weight unit (in the shakkan system) of approximately 3.75g, equivalent to the weight of one modern Japanese 5-yen coin. This reflects the practice during the era when gold, silver, and copper coins circulated, where the value of silver coins was traded based on weight (monme).
This single "Han-Fuda 藩札" was a valuable paper currency worth three silver coins of the time.
