Rhum Vieux Agricola THE DEPAZ ESTATE The Depaz estate was founded in 1651 by Jacques Duparquet, the first governor of Martinique. It was destroyed in 1902 following the eruption of Mount Pelée and then rebuilt in 1917 by Victor Depaz, who planted blue sugarcane, well-suited to volcanic soils and producing the highly aromatic rums for which the estate is renowned today. After Victor's death, his son André partnered with Bardinet, already a client of the estate and known for producing Negrita and Old Nick rums. Bardinet was acquired by La Martiniquaise in 1993.
