Hinggi Batik Handwoven from Sumba Island.
This peace of art is traditionally used as a man's shoulder or hip cloth.
It's traditionally made of two separate clothes sew it together. This is why it had a seam in the middle. This seam is original.
It was worn in pairs during ceremonies, weddings and funerals.
They symbolized social status, wealth and power.
The reddish tones were exclusively used by royalty.
The scarf like shape has long french in each side.
Due to the antiguite and the nature of cotton it has in different parts 3 little holes as you can see in the pictures It would need a proficient sewing hand to restore it.
