Mata Hari was one of the most mysterious and famous women of the early twentieth century. Her life combined fame, seduction, politics, and espionage. Early Life She was born in 1876 in the Netherlands with the real name Margaretha Geertruida Zelle. When she was young, she married a Dutch army officer and lived for a time in the Dutch colony in Indonesia. The marriage eventually failed, and her life took a new direction. Becoming “Mata Hari” After returning to Europe, she moved to Paris and began performing exotic dances under the stage name Mata Hari. The name “Mata Hari” comes from the Malay language and means “Eye of the Day” or “Sun.” She quickly became famous in Paris because: • Her dances were presented as mysterious and oriental • Her costumes and performances were bold and captivating • She often appeared in aristocratic and military social circles Relationships with Powerful Men Mata Hari had relationships with officers, diplomats, and influential men. He completed his studies in architecture and later obtained a two-year degree in sculpture from the University of Tehran. A self-taught artist in drawing, he has held several exhibitions on themes such as freedom, human rights, and nature, winning multiple awards in the fields of cartoons and caricature. For nearly three years, he has been living in Germany, where he has participated in several group exhibitions in Oldenburg and Hamburg. During this time, many of his paintings have been sold on reputable platforms such as Catawiki, SingularArt, and Saatchi. He is highly passionate about sharing his experiences and skills with the younger generation. Behzad Mojarad Bigdeli, known by his stage name “BarBeni,” was born in 1981 in Tehran, Iran. He completed his studies in architecture and later obtained a two-year degree in sculpture from the University of Tehran.
