Antique French Hand-Painted Porcelain Triple Vase/Posy Holder – Belle Époque c. 1900-1914.

This elegant decorative piece consists of three graduated cylindrical tubes joined on a shared scalloped base resting on three gilded lion’s-paw (claw) feet. The body features exquisite hand-painted floral panels set in ornate gilt rectangular reserves against three different coloured grounds:

•  Left tube: black ground with white, purple and yellow pansies
•  Centre tube: deep rose ground with large pink and blue roses
•  Right tube: pale pink ground with pink roses and yellow accents

The entire piece is richly decorated with heavy raised gilding on the rims, panel borders, scrollwork friezes and the complete base. The porcelain is fine and translucent, typical of high-quality French export ware from the period.

On the base is a clear blue underglaze script monogram (stylized intertwined letters – see photos). This is an authentic period decorator’s mark commonly found on Limoges and similar French export porcelain blanks. The piece does not carry a factory mark.

This is not a fake Sèvres mark for the following reasons:

The form (three graduated tubes on a scalloped base with gilded lion-paw feet) is a standard Limoges export “vase à trois tubes” / posy holder — mass-produced for the American and European market circa 1900–1914. Sèvres never made this commercial, multi-tube flower holder. Forgers targeting Sèvres would copy high-end royal vases, not this everyday decorative item.

•  Decoration & quality match Belle Époque Limoges export perfectly: multi-coloured grounds (black, deep rose, pale pink), hand-painted florals in reserves, heavy raised gilding, translucent body, and the small manufacturing hole in one foot. Sèvres pieces are finer, use different palettes (e.g., true bleu celeste), and have superior modelling.

•  No auction records, mark guides, or forgery reports show this exact triple-vase form with a fake Sèvres double-L mark. Fakes of Sèvres on Limoges blanks exist, but they mimic palace dinner services or elaborate urns — never this style.

This is a genuine antique French (or possibly Austrian-decorated) export porcelain piece, c. 1900–1914, with an authentic period decorator’s script monogram. It was never intended to pass as Sèvres — the mark, shape, and decoration confirm it as typical high-quality Limoges-style export ware.

Height: 17.5 (feet to middle tube);
Width: 19cm (including feet):
Depth: 9.5cm (including feet);
Diameter: 6cm (middle tube);
Weight: 662g.

Excellent condition– no chips, cracks, hairlines or restoration. Gilding remains bright with only very light, normal surface wear consistent with age. The piece displays beautifully and is ready to enjoy or display.

A classic and highly decorative Belle Époque object that would suit any interior – from Victorian to Art Nouveau collections. These triple posy vases were popular export items for the American and European market and are increasingly sought after by collectors of hand-painted porcelain.
