Green runs wild here.
A stoneware goblet by Yasuo Tamaoki (玉置保夫), executed in the dramatic Oribe tradition — one of Japan's most iconic ceramic styles, born in the Mino kilns of the 16th century and still very much alive in the hands of contemporary masters. The surface is painted with bold grape-and-vine motifs in iron black, while pools of vivid green copper-oxide Oribe glaze flow freely across the body, creating an asymmetry that feels both ancient and utterly alive.
This is not a piece to be hidden in a cabinet. It demands to be seen, held, and used.
Complete with original signed wooden box (tomobako) and the artist's biographical document — full provenance preserved.
Works by Yasuo Tamaoki with complete provenance are increasingly difficult to find on the international market. A rare opportunity for collectors of contemporary Mino ware.
