Descrição fornecida pelo vendedor
The 石王尉(いしおうじょう / Ishiōjō) Noh mask, signed 靖, embodies the austere nobility of an elderly deity and nature spirit. This specialized Mai-jō (dancing old man) mask conveys sacred dignity and quiet divine authority, its expression shifting from serene composure to subtle melancholy with the slightest tilt.
Named after its 15th-century originator, the Ishiōjō type has been used for centuries in nochi-shite dancing roles of benevolent gods and tree spirits in plays such as Saigyō-zakura and Yūgyō Yanagi. This Showa/Heisei period example is masterfully carved from wood, featuring classic gaunt features, deeply set crescent eyes, and a horsehair beard. The rich patina and strong original paint preserve the subtle yūgen of fine Noh masks.
• Character: Ishiōjō (石王尉)
• Signature: 靖
• Era: Showa / Heisei period
• Material: Carved wood
• Dimensions: H 31 cm (incl. beard) × W 20 cm × D 15.5 × 8 cm
• Weight: 173 g

In person, the mask radiates quiet dignity and benevolent gravity. Its sunken eyes and austere expression create intriguing depth that shifts beautifully under light and angle.
