Untitled, 2024

30 × 40 cm
Mixed media on canvas
Framed in a black floating frame

Created in 2024, Untitled marks a pivotal moment in Vladinsky’s artistic development. This work introduced the deep crimson background that would later become a defining visual element in a series of large-scale paintings presented internationally. The intensity of the red field creates a psychological space rather than a conventional backdrop, amplifying the emotional presence of the figure while dissolving the boundary between portrait and abstraction.

Built through dense layers of oil and mixed media, the face emerges as if sculpted directly from paint. Thick impasto, fractured gestures and expressive marks transform the portrait into an exploration of memory, identity and perception. Rather than describing a specific individual, the work invites the viewer to project their own emotions and experiences onto an ever-changing human presence.

This composition became the conceptual starting point for a body of monumental red-background paintings that later attracted significant attention during Vladinsky’s presentation at ART SG Singapore, where the powerful dialogue between the monochromatic background and the expressive portrait language resonated strongly with collectors and audiences alike.

About the Artist

Vladinsky (b. 1988, Romania) is a contemporary Romanian artist internationally recognised for his distinctive abstract-figurative visual language, where portraiture, abstraction and expressive gesture merge into a unique painterly vocabulary. Working primarily with oil and mixed media, his practice investigates identity, perception and the emotional complexity of contemporary life.

Widely regarded as one of the most prolific contemporary artists from Eastern Europe, Vladinsky has built an international career through a continuous presence in many of the world’s leading artistic and financial centres. His works have been exhibited in Singapore, London, Hong Kong, Miami, New York, Chicago, Basel, Shanghai, Palm Beach, Toronto, Istanbul and numerous major European cities through collaborations with HOFA Gallery (House of Fine Art).

During the past five years he has presented consecutive solo exhibitions at HOFA Gallery in London, including Fragments (2021), Revealing Obscura (2022), Desire & Distortion (2023), Moment: A Journey Beyond Material (2024) and Afterimage (2025), while simultaneously participating in internationally recognised art fairs such as ART SG Singapore, Art Central Hong Kong, VOLTA Basel, EXPO Chicago, Art Miami, ART021 Shanghai and Contemporary Istanbul.

His paintings are held in hundreds of private collections worldwide, and his growing international profile has been reinforced by appearances at Phillips London, reflecting increasing recognition within the global contemporary art market. Today, Vladinsky continues to develop a highly recognisable artistic language that balances instinct with precision, creating works that invite viewers to question certainty while embracing the complexity of human existence.
