The artist is renowned for his surreal architectural compositions, where he often fuses precise elements of Baroque facades and classical domes with hyperrealistic, three-dimensional textures. This particular work is part of his acclaimed series of views of Venice, iconically depicting the Church of Santa Maria della Salute using the optical illusion of crumpled paper (trompe-l'œil).
