An exceptionally rare and intimate ancient cast-bronze decorative plaque or furniture appliqué depicting a man and woman in a tender embrace, sharing a kiss. The two bust-length figures are rendered in high relief, their profiles dramatically facing one another with distinct, deeply cast features, almond-shaped eyes, and intricately textured hairstyles typical of the classical Mediterranean tradition. Their shoulders seamlessly merge at the base into a unified "V" shape, tapering down to a rounded mounting projection.This robustly cast piece originally served as an ornamental mount, likely pinned or soldered to decorate a luxury wooden jewelry casket, structural chest, or ceremonial bronze vessel. The intimate "kissing" motif is highly desirable, capturing a rare glimpse of personal romance and domestic sentimentality in antiquity. The artifact features untouched dark burial patina across its surfaces. Intact and in a choice state of preservation.
