Large Italian Neoclassical Bust – In the Manner of Arnaldo Giannelli – Reconstituted Marble – 20th Century
Elegant large Italian bust depicting a young noblewoman wearing an elaborate feathered hat and richly decorated Renaissance-style attire. The sculpture is executed in reconstituted marble (marble/alabaster composite) and stands on a polished stone base.
The quality of the modelling, together with the refined details of the face, hair, drapery and costume, closely recalls the decorative sculptures produced in Italy during the mid to late 20th century.
The work shows strong stylistic similarities to busts created by Arnaldo Giannelli and other workshops from Volterra, Tuscany, renowned for producing high-quality decorative sculptures in reconstituted marble. Comparable Giannelli busts with similar materials and artistic language are known from the art market.
