Artwork Overview:

Everyone wants to become a star. ARVY imagines the moment the star begins watching back.

At the centre, an immense eye rises on a narrow black-and-white stem, encircled by multicoloured spikes like a crown, halo or burst of light. Its body carries the handwritten declaration “STAR POWER”, transforming the figure into both character and slogan. To the left stands a larger crowned presence with crescent-shaped yellow eyes. On the right, a thinner figure balances beneath a triangular headpiece, its gridded eyes and looping features giving it a nervous, provisional air. Small stars and black droplets drift across the powder-blue ground, somewhere between a night sky and a publicity backdrop.

The painting turns celebrity into a surreal hierarchy of attention. The central being appears powerful because it is visible, yet its single eye also conveys vigilance and self-consciousness. The surrounding figures may be admirers, rivals or alternate versions of the same personality before and after recognition.

ARVY’s deliberately naïve forms are sharpened by neo-expressionist immediacy. Dry brushwork, scratched lines, abrupt colour and exposed corrections keep the image alive. Star Power presents fame as a reciprocal gaze: to be elevated above others is also to live beneath their eyes.
