Dialogue Between Earth and Sky stages a conversation between two worlds. At the base, a solid figure rooted in earth tones embodies Sundanese cultural heritage — grounded, enduring, unmoved by the acceleration of time. Above it, the canvas opens into vivid flowing lines, constellation-like patterns, and luminous data points scattered across cosmic space — a visual rendering of human thought expanding beyond every boundary once believed fixed, from ancient stargazing to modern global connectivity.
The work is governed by the philosophy of Silih Asah, Silih Asih, Silih Asuh — mutual refinement, affection, and care — the invisible force binding foundation and vision into a single continuous current.
Created in mixed media using volcanic stone, crushed seashells, natural organic fibers, and glass, every layer of this work carries the physical memory of the earth it depicts. The materials are not metaphors — they are the thing itself. This organic imperfection is the clearest proof of authenticity: no two marks can ever be reproduced by hand or machine.
The artwork is entirely hand-created. It is not a print, and no artificial intelligence has been used in its production. It is shipped by default unframed, rolled in a professional protective telescopic tube, ensuring safe handling throughout international transit.
About the artist: Jono Sugiartono (b. 1968, Ciamis, West Java, Indonesia) bridges Sundanese cultural heritage with contemporary progress, his visual language rooted in the Batik Mega Mendung tradition of Cirebon. Top 10 Finalist, UOB Painting of the Year (2023). Aeternum Gold distinction, curator Antonio Pedro (Spain). Works held in institutional collections including Indonesia's Ministry of Culture.
