Description
Excellent certified Mint State example of an early Alexander II silver issue — NGC MS62 with strong eye appeal and beautifully preserved Imperial details.
A highly attractive and desirable Imperial Russian silver 25 Kopecks of 1856, struck at the Saint Petersburg Mint during the reign of Emperor Alexander II.
Professionally authenticated, encapsulated and graded by NGC as MS62, placing this example firmly in Mint State.
NGC Certification No. 8588654-004
The coin displays a very pleasing overall appearance, with sharp details, strong remaining mint character and attractive original surfaces.
The reverse features the crowned denomination 25 КОПѢЕКЪ, surrounded by an elegant wreath, while the obverse carries the impressive crowned Imperial Russian double-headed eagle.
The 1856 issue belongs to the beginning of the reign of Alexander II, who became Emperor in 1855, making it an especially appealing early-reign type for collectors of Imperial Russian coinage.
Although the issue was produced in substantial numbers, high-quality surviving examples in certified Mint State are considerably more desirable than ordinary circulated pieces, and MS62 represents an especially attractive collector grade.
