In her still lifes, Mariska Karto reveals, in a quiet and dreamlike manner, the connection between our visible reality and another, unseen world. Her work invites the viewer to slow down and pay attention; to enter a moment of stillness in which the ordinary takes on a mysterious and meaningful presence.
Through carefully chosen objects, subtle compositions, and a refined visual language, she creates images that evoke memory, longing, and wonder. Her still lifes are more than depictions of objects; they are poetic encounters where the visible and the invisible gently touch.
