O objeto é totalmente esculpido a partir de um único bloco de madeira maciça e mantém o acabamento policromado tradicional original. A camada base de cor vermelha profunda é enriquecida com acentos pretos refinados e dourados (folheados a ouro), que ficam belíssimos ao redor dos olhos, orelhas e do fechamento deslizante detalhado. O tampo fecha-se sobre o interior oco e apresenta entalhes geométricos elegantes.

Condição:
A peça encontra-se em um estado encantador e característico, com uma patina lindamente envelhecida que realça a sua história. Na parte inferior há uma rachadura longitudinal (fenda). Este é um processo completamente natural de madeira tropical antiga que se adapta ao clima europeu mais seco. This exceptional piece of ethnographic folk art was traditionally used to hold offerings (banten), sacred texts, or ritual utensils during ceremonies. In Indonesian culture, the water buffalo is a highly revered animal, symbolizing strength, fertility, prosperity, and the agricultural cycle.

Details and Craftsmanship:
The box is entirely hand-carved from a single piece of solid hardwood and retains its original, traditional polychrome finish. The deep red base layer is enhanced with refined black and gold (gilded) accents, beautifully visible around the eyes, ears, and the detailed sliding lid. The lid fits neatly over the hollow interior and features elegant geometric carvings.

Condition:
The piece is in a lovely, characterful condition with a beautifully aged patina that highlights its history. On the bottom, there is a longitudinal shrinkage crack (split). This is a completely natural process of old tropical hardwood adapting to the drier European climate. This drying split does not affect the stability of the object; rather, it serves as crucial visual evidence of the authenticity and age of the wood.
