Arkadiy Kurta grew up in the small city of Sumy in Ukraine and lived in Germany for two years while he attended school. Prior to becoming a photographer, he attended the Banking Academy of Finance. He became interested in photography at the age of twenty-eight when presented with an inexpensive camera. The following year, at twenty-nine years old, he enrolled in the Kiev School of Photography. By the age of thirty-one, he had opened his first photo studio in his hometown.
