" Dietrich Schuchardt (* February 14 , 1945 in Bergen auf Rügen ) is a modern painter who is associated with Surrealism .
In 1966, Schuchardt began training as an art teacher and started teaching art in 1969. Alongside his teaching, he has been a very prolific artist ever since. He considers Albrecht Dürer , Salvador Dalí , Joachim Patinir , and Max Ernst to be his role models .
Schuchardt's works are inspired by the nature he experienced on his many travels, particularly the chalk cliffs of Rügen and the Black Forest , which he sees as intertwined with human nature. The mystery of creation and decay, the senses, and human techniques are among his recurring themes.
His painting technique encompasses drawings and gouaches , as well as copperplate engravings hand-colored with watercolors. He works with great care and precision, employing the methods of the Old Masters.
Dietrich Schuchardt is widely recognized as a significant contemporary representative of Surrealism, as evidenced by his well over 100 solo exhibitions."
