Up for auction is a beautiful, early production FED-2 (Type 1b) 35mm rangefinder camera in fully operational condition, paired with the classic collapsible FED 50mm f/3.5 lens (Industar-10 formula). Produced in the mid-1950s by the FED factory in Kharkiv (USSR), this early variant features the distinct red-filled Cyrillic engravings, wide rangefinder base, and clean front plate without a self-timer.
An exceptional collector’s piece and a fully functional shooter for vintage analog photography enthusiasts.
Condition & Technical Inspection:
Mechanical Status: Fully working. The shutter winds smoothly and fires accurately across all speeds (1/25s to 1/500s) as well as on Bulb ('B') mode.
Shutter Curtains: Light-tight, clean, and flexible without pinholes, brittleness, or excessive wear.
Viewfinder & Rangefinder: The viewfinder is clear; the rangefinder patch contrasts well and aligns horizontally. Diopter adjustment ring operates smoothly.
Lens (FED 50mm f/3.5 Collapsible): Glass elements are clean and transparent, free from fungus or deep scratches. Aperture blades move correctly. Collapsible barrel locks securely into position.
Cosmetics: In very clean vintage condition. Chrome top and bottom plates are well preserved. Minor, natural paint rub wear along the rear door edges from handling, consistent with age.
