Up for auction is a piece of 19th-century history: a scarce 1851 1 Lepton copper coin from the United States of the Ionian Islands, issued during the British protectorate era.

Value / Denomination: 1 Lepton (equal to 1/10 of a British penny or 1/5 of an Obol)

Obverse: Features the iconic seated Britannia with "BRITANNIA" lettering.
Reverse: Features the winged Lion of Saint Mark holding seven arrows, encircled by the Greek inscription "ΙΟΝΙΚΟΝ ΚΡΑΤΟΣ" (Ionian State) and dated 1851.
