Original and unique work by Portuguese urban artist Gongas (Gonçalo Reis).
Born in Lisbon in 2001, Gongas grew up closely connected to Portuguese graffiti culture. He is the son of renowned graffiti artist Nomen and was surrounded from an early age by artists connected to the Portuguese street-art scene.
Gongas began developing his own artistic work in 2021 and soon moved towards painting on canvas, combining influences from street art, graffiti and contemporary pop culture.
This artwork depicts a female portrait inspired by Evey Hammond, the character portrayed by Natalie Portman in the film V for Vendetta. Rather than reproducing a conventional film image, Gongas reinterprets the character through his own urban visual language.
The work is executed using acrylic paint, spray paint and mixed-media techniques, with the characteristic textures, splashes, distressed effects and layered surfaces that distinguish the artist’s style. The combination of black, grey and red tones gives the piece a strong visual presence, while the stencil-like treatment reinforces its street-art character.
This is an original and unique artwork, not a print, and it is hand-signed by the artist.
The canvas is already professionally stretched over a wooden stretcher frame, as shown in the photographs. It is therefore ready to be displayed and does not need to be shipped rolled in a tube.
