Rare and highly decorative original U.S. military transport crate for two 105 mm M314A3 illuminating artillery cartridges, preserved together with both original cylindrical transport tubes.
The crate retains its original military stencil markings, including:
“2 EA – CARTRIDGE 105 MM ILLUMINATING M314A3 W/FUZE M565 – FOR HOWITZER M2A1, M2A2, M49 AND M103”

The M314A3 was a 105 mm illuminating artillery cartridge used for battlefield illumination and signalling. This type belongs to the Vietnam War / Cold War era of U.S. artillery equipment.
A major advantage of this lot is its completeness. The original wooden military crate is preserved together with:
* 2 original cylindrical transport tubes
* original metal hinges and fastening hardware
* original rope carrying handles
* extensive original military stencil markings
The overall condition is very good, especially for military transport equipment of this age. The olive-drab paint, lettering, wooden construction and metal fittings are all well preserved, with only normal signs of age and storage.
