Quando os turistas se afastam, Veneza volta lentamente a si mesma. Os becos ficam vazios, os ruídos ficam mais distantes e as luzes refletem-se na água, criando uma atmosfera suspensa e íntima.
É esta a Veneza que tentei contar através destas fotografias: uma cidade mais silenciosa, contida, quase secreta. Uma Veneza que, finalmente livre da multidão, redescobre sua dimensão mais autêntica.
During the day, Venice belongs to the crowds: busy alleyways, voices, footsteps, and a constant flow of people moving through the city.
At night, however, everything changes.
When the tourists leave, Venice slowly returns to itself. The alleyways become quiet, the sounds grow distant, and the lights reflect on the water, creating a suspended and intimate atmosphere.
This is the Venice I have tried to capture through these photographs: a quieter, more intimate, almost secret city. A Venice that, finally free from the crowds, rediscovers its most authentic dimension.
