Studied under his father, the preceding Hōsai (Yūkōan), mastering the traditional techniques of Asahi ware. He creates pieces designed with the user in mind, such as tea bowls and sencha utensils featuring Asahi ware's characteristic flesh-coloured glaze adorned with mottled patterns.
