Clay, ochre, raw sienna and ink on canvas
100cm x 140cm (39 inches x 55 inches)
遷 (Sen) — meaning “transition” in Japanese — is a meditation on the in-between, the shifting state where one form dissolves into another. In this work, contemporary artist VITYRA traces the subtle gravity of change: the moment where permanence falters, and something unnamed begins to take shape.
Measuring 100 cm x 140 cm, the painting is composed of clay, ochre, raw sienna, and ink on canvas. The surface unfolds in layered warmth — sienna and ochre rising like sun-struck earth, while shadowy depths of ink and clay press downward, creating a dialogue between weight and light. The gradations move like weather across a horizon, neither fixed nor fleeting, but suspended in passage.
遷 speaks of impermanence not as loss, but as inevitability — a reminder that change itself is the ground we stand upon. Its forms drift, blur, and reform, carrying with them both uncertainty and quiet renewal.
As with all works by VITYRA, the piece embodies the philosophy of wabi-sabi — finding beauty in the unfinished, the transient, and the unrepeatable.
This original painting by VITYRA is discreetly hand-signed on the reverse side to preserve the purity of the artwork’s surface and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. VITYRA is represented by S-Gallery, a well-known gallery for Viennese boundary-pushing contemporary artists. The artwork will be shipped rolled in a secure, protective tube—an eco-friendly and safe method that reduces shipping costs and risk of damage. The canvas measures 100 x 140 cm, with an extra 5 cm border on each side for easy re-stretching. Frame placement is lightly marked on the back to assist precise mounting.
