This is an original French lithograph for the newspaper L'Éclair - Journal Politique Indépendant. This object is original from the time, printed with a smaller scale than the full-size advertising poster. The size is 17.5in by 12.75in. The condition of the poster is excellent for its age with some water damage around the edges and on the back side but when framed this will not be noticeable. The colours are preserved in great detail with no folds or tears to the paper. The poster was created by artist H. Thomas in 1897. It is a lithograph that won first prize in the poster competition for the newspaper. The poster was also featured in the Les Maîtres de l'Affiche series, a collection of reduced-size lithographs of important posters from the Belle Époque era. The image depicts a woman in a large, floral hat reading the newspaper.
