Biombo Byōbu - Papel, Madeira, Um biombo de quatro painéis representando um Yamabushi e dois samurais. - Japão
A Japanese four-panel screen (byōbu, 屏風) painted on paper with applications of gold powder, depicting a dynamic battle scene between a Yamabushi and two armored samurai.
The composition stands out for the expressive power of the gestures and the refined attention to detail: the richly decorated armors, the intense expressions, and the movement of the figures convey a sense of tension and drama.
Signed and sealed by the artist on the left panel.
The panels are surrounded by two splendid silk borders, while a lacquered wooden frame completes and protects the screen.
The screen can also be easily mounted on a wall or used as a room divider.
Byōbu (屏風), literally “wind protection screens,” are traditional Japanese folding screens originally created to divide spaces and today appreciated above all as striking wall-mounted paintings.
---The byōbu is in good condition, with minor wear consistent with age and two vertical paper restorations (approx. 12 cm) on the third panel, along with a light vertical moisture stain. A restoration is also visible on the first panel near the signature. Please refer to the pictures for further details.
The item will be carefully packed and shipped via DHL or FedEx, accompanied by the original certificate of authenticity issued by Mastromauro Japanese art gallery based in Milan, Italy.
