Clube Sstone Ilhas Trobriand Nova Guiné - Papua Nova Guiné (Sem preço de reserva)

Ancient Stone Club – Trobriand Islands (Kula Region) 19th Century Stone Disc – Exceptionally Fine This rare and beautifully balanced stone club originates from the Trobriand Islands, a culturally rich archipelago east of Papua New Guinea. The finely shaped stone disc most likely dates back to the 19th century, a period when such weapons were still central to ceremonial exchange, status display, and inter-village combat. The club features a superbly crafted stone head, expertly ground into a precise circular form, showing the timeless skill of Trobriand artisans. Its patina and wear are consistent with great age and long use. The wooden shaft — likely replaced at a later date, as is common with early stone clubs — fits the disc securely and presents the club in its complete, powerful form. Stone clubs from the Trobriands are sought after for their sculptural quality and their association with the famed Kula exchange cycle, in which prestige objects travelled vast distances and acquired storied histories. This piece stands out for its age, authenticity, and aesthetic presence. A true museum-quality artifact from one of the most intriguing cultural regions of the Pacific. Perfect for collectors of Oceanic art, early weaponry, and ethnographic masterpieces. Packed with care Sending worldwide Sold by Koos Knol, ethnographer and anthropologist, dealer of Papua Tribal Art for more than 30 years, expert and author of the book “Papua Blues”, written in Dutch. (Maybe in English next year.)  Published end of October 2024 A book about inside stories, a book that deals with the many encounters with special people in West Papua, the impressive experiences that the author has, about special encounters with men and women who tell him about secret things, about ethnographic objects and initiate him into the rituals and ceremonies. A must have for collectors, ethnographers, ethnologists, anthropologists and museums   Google:Papua Blues Koos Knol
