Artist's Comment:
Byōdō-in Temple
Originally built as the Uji Palace, a villa for Fujiwara no Michinaga during the mid-Heian period, it was later inherited by his son, the regent Yorimichi. In the seventh year of Eicho (1107), it became the Buddhist temple Byōdō-in.
The Phoenix Hall is famous nationwide and attracts many visitors.
Rather than depicting the entire Phoenix Hall, I wanted to capture the phoenix illuminated by the moonlight at dusk.
This work was created based on a sketch.
The beauty of the contrast between moonlight and the phoenix...
My thoughts drifted back to the Heian period. It was a quiet moment.
Size:
Approximately 36 cm × 26 cm
