Japanese Bizen-yaki - Juhō Ueda - Tigela de chá - Cerâmica - Esmalte marrom com BlueDrip
This is an exceptionally textured and robust ceramic Chawan (tea bowl), believed to be the work of the renowned Japanese potter, Ueda Juhō (上田寿方), who is primarily known for his Bizen ware. This piece showcases a powerful, traditional aesthetic, reflecting the spirit of Japanese chadō (tea ceremony) items from the mid-20th Century.
Artist/Maker: Attributed to Ueda Juhō (上田寿方), signed with the stamp "Juhō" (寿方) on the base.
Style: The work is crafted in a Bizen-yaki style (although using glaze, which is typical of the artist’s diverse range), emphasizing the natural clay body and powerful firing effects.
Glaze & Technique: The bowl is finished with a deep, earthy brown glaze that pools and thickens towards the rim. The striking feature is the brilliant "Ao-nagashi" (Blue Drip) glaze, where a bold stream of cobalt blue runs down the side, creating a dynamic and sought-after aesthetic known as keshiki (scenery).
Form: A sturdy, slightly distorted cylindrical shape (cylindrical chawan), offering a strong presence in the hand.
