Item Description This is a handcrafted wooden kokeshi doll titled "Princess Kaguya" (かぐや姫), created by Sekiguchi Toa, a kokeshi artist from Gunma Prefecture, Japan. Sekiguchi Toa is known as a recipient of the Prime Minister's Award in Japan. The doll features a minimalist facial expression and is dressed in a vividly painted kimono with shimmering gold, green, and orange hues. The surface shows visible craquelure and minor abrasions, particularly on the back and sides, consistent with age and handling. The artist's red seal mark is visible on the bottom. The Japanese name refers to the legendary figure "Kaguya-hime," a princess from the Japanese folktale "The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter."
