The hinged lid opens to reveal a mounted iron blade stamped Eskilstuna—a renowned Swedish center of steel production—secured with a turned wooden handle and resting over a slotted cutting block.
The perforated base was designed to collect sugar fragments, typical of utility boxes used when sugar was sold in solid loaves. A well-preserved example of Scandinavian domestic craftsmanship, combining practical design with understated elegance.
