Fine French silver spice stand from Paris, created during the Empire–early Restoration period. The balanced classical form and restrained ornamentation reflect the high standards of early 19th-century Parisian table silver.

Maker’s mark “P M” in an upright lozenge, attributed to Pierre-Michel Lemoine, whose mark was registered in Paris in 1814. Lemoine is known for carefully finished table silver; fully marked objects associated with him are relatively uncommon.

Fineness mark: Michelangelo head, Paris, 1819–1838
