Ultra Rare Vintage 'Players' Magazine (Vol. 1, No. 3, 1974) – Featuring Pam Grier – Near Mint / Unique Condition.

This is an exceptionally rare and early copy of the legendary American publication Players magazine (Volume One, Number Three), released in early 1974. Founded in Los Angeles in 1973, Players holds immense cultural significance as a premier lifestyle magazine celebrated for its focus on fashion, high-profile interviews, and groundbreaking pictorials.

As a vital alternative to mainstream publications of the era, this incredibly early third issue stands as a landmark piece of 1970s pop culture history. Finding this specific early issue today—especially preserved in this state—is an absolute rarity.

Pam Grier
The undisputed star of this issue is the legendary actress Pam Grier, prominently featured here as her unforgettable persona Ms. Foxy Brown. Grier was the reigning queen of 1970s action cinema, skyrocketing to fame with era-defining cult classics like Coffy (1973) and Foxy Brown (1974). Famed director Quentin Tarantino would later famously cite her as cinema's very first female action hero. Inside, this issue features a stunning, rare pictorial and feature of Grier at the absolute peak of her career—celebrating her trademark blend of fierce independence, charisma, and unmatched style.

In-depth feature and cover shot of Pam Grier. Additionally includes exclusive interviews and features with entertainment icon Sammy Davis Jr. and a political commentary on Elmer Davis (Watergate).

This copy is very rare and truly unique in this condition. The magazine is in a remarkably beautiful Near Mint / Excellent condition. The cover has retained its deep colors and gloss fantastically well, the spine is strong and intact, and it shows virtually none of the heavy age-wear, spine splits, or severe yellowing typical of vintage magazines from this era. It has been carefully preserved in a protective sleeve, making it a museum-quality survivor.

Please Note: The separate, loosely inserted '8-folded poster' (which was commonly removed and lost over the decades) is not included with this lot. The magazine itself, however, is entirely complete, fully intact, and in a preserved state that is virtually impossible to find on the market today.

A top-tier collector's item for serious enthusiasts of 1970s memorabilia, cinema history, and rare vintage publishing!
