The Two Distilleries Concept
The whisky was created by Ichiro Akuto, one of the most respected figures in contemporary Japanese whisky. This expression combines malts from:
Hanyu Distillery: The distillery founded by Ichiro’s grandfather, which closed its doors in 2000. Ichiro rescued the final remaining casks of this historic malt.
Chichibu Distillery: The distillery founded by Ichiro himself in 2008 to carry on his family's legacy.
The Aging Profile
The complexity of this iconic green-labeled bottle (often known as the Green Leaf) comes from a unique combination of woods:
The Hanyu malt brings robustness and structure, having been matured in old Sherry Hogsheads.
The Chichibu malt provides freshness and sweetness, aged in new Japanese Mizunara Oak casks.

Nose: Very fruity and fresh, highlighting notes of green apple, pear, honey, vanilla, and a floral touch of jasmine.
