This portrait is part of Harry Langdon's early photographic series of Angelina Jolie, created before her international breakthrough as an actress. It was in fact her first professional photo shoot.
Artist's Comment
Harry Langdon later recalled that he had been told Angelina Jolie was 18 years old, only discovering after the session that she was in fact 15. Speaking about the portrait, he said:
"The most important thing was to earn her trust. I never imposed myself, because once a photographer crosses that line, the subject immediately becomes more guarded. Angelina simply stepped in front of the camera—without any inhibition."
Harry Langdon is internationally recognised for his portraits of musicians, actors and cultural icons. His work has been exhibited internationally and is represented in numerous public and private collections.
