The Philips CD 160 is a legendary vintage CD player that was produced in Belgium between 1986 and 1988. Although the housing was made of relatively cheap plastic (plastic) at the time to reduce production costs, today the player is hugely loved by audiophiles and hobbyists because of its high-quality internal components.
Main Specifications
Digital Analog (DAC): Equipped with the famous Philips TDA1541, one of the most praised 16-bit ladder DACs ever made. This type of DAC is known for its warm, natural and 'analog' sound.
Running gear (Laser): Uses the robust Philips CDM-2/10 running gear with a reliable swing-arm laser.
Digital Filter: SAA7220P/A with 4x oversampling.
Connections: In addition to the standard analog RCA (tulip) outputs, the CD 160 also has a digital coaxial output, making it excellent to use as a pure running gear in combination with a modern external DAC.
