Descriere de la vânzător
Rare Sonab stereo receiver
The Sonab R4000 is an iconic vintage hi-fi receiver, designed in Sweden by Klas Grenam and manufactured between 1971 and 1974. The receiver is renowned for its unique, minimalist Scandinavian design, which was far ahead of its time and even won a Swedish design award in 1974.
Key specifications
• Power output: 2 x 40 watts RMS at 8 ohms.
• Built-in tuner: Analog FM radio band. Instead of a traditional tuning needle driven by a string mechanism, this model uses an electrically driven meter to indicate the frequency.
• Connections: Equipped with DIN connectors—standard in Europe at the time—for Phono (turntable), Tape, and Aux, as well as terminals for two pairs of speakers (A and B).
• Dimensions: Approximately 47.5 x 25 x 11 cm.
• Weight: Approximately 8.5 to 9 kg.
Unique features
• Design & Build Quality: Its sleek, low-profile design differs drastically from the bulky American and Japanese receivers popular at the time. Legend has it that the chassis is so incredibly sturdy that the designers once drove a car over it to test its robustness.
• Presets: The push-buttons for preset stations also function as individual tuning controls when pressed.
• Hidden schematic: A nice detail for collectors and audio enthusiasts is that the factory often attached the technical schematics in an envelope to the inside of the metal casing.
It is still inside here!
At the time, this model was often paired with the equally legendary omnidirectional Carlsson loudspeakers (such as the Sonab OA series) and the Sonab 55S turntable to form a complete Swedish design set.
All lamps work
Contacts cleaned
Din and speaker Plugs included
Some scratches on the cover.
