Descriere de la vânzător

Luba Kabila, purtător de bol.
DR Congo.

Referred to as "kabila" or "mboko", this Luba sculpture is a typical bowlbearer used in sacred tribal ceremonies. The kabilas most commonly appear as female figures, either sitting or kneeling. The object's humble posture, great proportions and refined detailing of limbs is a beautiful execution by the sculptor. This representation shows strong elements of the Luba imaging such as the geometric headdress with additional detailing on top of the head. The face expression has been executed in a clean and simple fashion. Beautiful scarifications and ornamentations have been implemented on the back. This representation is in general a fine piece of Luba art.

Provenance:
Private Belgian collection

Object type: kabila/mboko bowlbearer
Tribe: Luba
Material: wood
Height: 32 cm

The condition and potential fragments or signs of wear are documented in detail through presented photographs.
