Independent artist Nina Groth was born in 1981 in Kassel, Germany where she still lives and works. Her formative years spent as a restorer of antique furniture led her to gain practical experience in painting techniques and appreciate the beauty in shapes and surfaces. Her flair for creative expression combined with her love of nature and the natural environment, have inspired her to appreciate the beauty in texture, colour, shape and movement and replicate this in paint in mixed range of media. These were the initial elements that encouraged Groth to pursue a career in painting. Her practice specialises in abstract painting with a particular focus on combining elements of form, colour and texture into her work. Primarily working in acrylic, yet expanding into a wide range of materials and techniques, Groth’s paintings seek to expose a delicate equilibrium between a sense of balance and visual calm and the tumult of painterly texture and surface tension. Groth’s work has a compelling ability to capture a deep sense of emotion in her abstract compositions.
