Exquisite Hand-Painted Nabeshima Porcelain Vase by Nabeshima Rozan-gama
This elegant vase is a masterful example of "Iro-Nabeshima" (Coloured Nabeshima), a prestigious style of Japanese porcelain. It features a sophisticated hand-painted design of Pine and Plum, symbolizing longevity and the arrival of spring, accented by delicate birds.
History & Origin
Nabeshima porcelain originated in the Saga Domain (modern-day Saga Prefecture) during the Edo period. Originally produced in kilns located in the Arita/Imari region, these pieces were exclusively created for the Shogun and feudal lords as prestigious gifts. While often associated with the broader category of "Imari ware," Nabeshima porcelain is distinguished by its refined, strictly controlled production techniques and superior artistic quality, historically known as "Nabeshima-yaki".
The Maker: Nabeshima Rozan-gama
This piece is crafted by the renowned "Nabeshima Rozan-gama" (Rozan Kiln), a studio that honors this centuries-old tradition. The kiln carries on the legacy of the Nabeshima藩窯 (feudal clan kiln), combining traditional techniques with a modern aesthetic, ensuring each piece is a reflection of Japan's rich ceramic history.
