Materia Brava förvandlar djurfiguren till en monumental närvaro, uppbyggd genom fragmenterade plan, intensiva kontraster och en tydlig spänning mellan geometrin och materian.Ansiktet upptar praktiskt taget hela målningsytan och konfronterar betraktaren med en kraftfull, tyst och karaktärsfull bild.

Kompositionen is with a marked central division that transforms the face into two chromatic territories. Deep blacks, earth tones, ochres, reds and whites dialogues with each other, while the large curved horns amplify the feeling of strength and stability. Asymmetrical gaze introduces, however, a more intimate och psykologisk dimension within that seemingly imposing presence.

Linguaget of cubist inspiration allows reconstruction the anatomy through independent, overlapping and altered shapes. The visible brushwork, the textural areas and the variations in painting density reinforce precisely what the title suggests: a matter that seems to retain its own energy.
