Rare Venetian / Murano Glass Ewer with Aventurine Decoration – Attributed to the Salviati / Barovier Circle

A highly decorative Venetian glass ewer, most likely produced in Murano, Italy, circa 1880–1900.

This exceptional hand-blown vessel is characterised by an elaborate sculptural design with two strongly curved applied handles, delicate applied glass ornament, a richly modelled neck and a distinctive spiral-twisted stem. The body is decorated with several applied amber-gold elements containing sparkling aventurine-like inclusions.

The elaborate construction, hot-applied decoration and highly sculptural form are characteristic of the historic Venetian glass tradition of the late 19th century. The form and decorative vocabulary are comparable to rare Venetian Art Nouveau / Historic Revival glass produced in the Salviati and Barovier circles during this period.

The present piece is offered as attributed to the Salviati / Barovier circle, rather than as a definitively signed work. No original signature or manufacturer's label is visible.
